Artificial General Intelligence, AGI¹, can be understood simply as artificial intelligence capable of performing a broad range of activities at the level of capable human beings or relevant human experts.

Superintelligence, SI², is artificial intelligence whose capabilities extend far beyond that level.

The definitions sound simple. Applying them is more difficult.

An AI could reason like an accomplished scientist across several disciplines yet struggle to manage a complicated project over an extended period. It could design a sophisticated machine while lacking the physical ability to assemble it.

At what point should we say it has achieved AGI?

In my view, the answer depends on four things:

• What capabilities it possesses.

• How well it performs.

• How effectively it remembers.

• How long it can operate independently.

I therefore propose a framework of two categories and nine cumulative classes³, assessed through percentile performance, memory, operational duration, and super intelligence.

Part I

Two Categories and Nine Classes of AGI

I propose organizing AGI into two broad categories.

Category 1

Cognitive AGI

Cognitive AGI covers knowledge, reasoning, communication, creativity, discovery, social understanding, spatial understanding and agentic AI.

It contains eight classes:

1. Textual AGI

2. Verbal AGI

3. Visual AGI

4. Video AGI

5. Creative and Discovery AGI

6. Social and Behavioural AGI

7. Spatial AGI

8. Agentic

Category 2

Embodied AGI

Embodied AGI extends the cognitive foundation into autonomous action and physical capability.

It contains one class:

9. Motor and Embodied AGI

Note

One rule connects the classes: each higher class includes the capabilities of all preceding classes and adds another capability.

I call this the cumulative rule⁴.

This is a proposed classification, not a prediction that AI development will follow this exact sequence. Individual capabilities may advance unevenly. The cumulative rule determines which complete class a system can claim under the framework.

Category 1:

Cognitive AGI

Class 1

Textual AGI

Capabilities: Textual intelligence

Textual AGI operates across mathematics, physics, medicine, engineering, computer science, law, economics, history, philosophy, business, and other major fields of knowledge.

It includes:

• Comprehension.

• Reasoning.

• Analysis.

• Synthesis.

• Problem-solving.

• Written articulation.

The AI does more than retrieve information. It applies knowledge, connects ideas across disciplines, examines arguments, evaluates evidence, solves problems, and clearly explains its conclusions.

Class 2

Verbal AGI

Capabilities: Textual and verbal intelligence

Verbal AGI adds spoken comprehension and articulation.

It understands speech, tone, nuance, arguments, questions, instructions, and conversational context.

It can explain, teach, discuss, interview, negotiate, persuade, and adapt its communication to different people and circumstances.

A Class 2 system therefore possesses the textual capabilities of Class 1 together with advanced verbal capability.

Class 3

Visual AGI

Capabilities: Textual, verbal, and visual intelligence

Visual AGI adds the ability to understand and create visual information, including:

• Photographs.

• Diagrams and charts.

• Designs and illustrations.

• Technical drawings.

• Medical images.

• Scientific visualizations.

The appropriate standard depends on the activity.

Medical images require clinical evaluation. Engineering drawings must satisfy engineering requirements. Visual designs should be evaluated according to their intended artistic or functional purpose.

Class 4

Video AGI

Capabilities: Textual, verbal, visual, and video intelligence

Video AGI adds the ability to understand and create moving images.

It comprehends movement, behaviour, demonstrations, processes, events, and sequences over time. It can analyze relationships between events and reason about possible causes.

It must also recognize the limits of the evidence. Seeing two events occur in sequence does not necessarily establish that one caused the other.

Class 5

Creative and Discovery AGI

Capabilities: Previous classes plus creativity and discovery

This class adds the ability to generate valuable new ideas and develop solutions to previously unsolved problems.

Its contributions could include:

• Inventions.

• Hypotheses and theories.

• Strategies.

• Designs and engineering solutions.

• Mathematical approaches.

• Scientific discoveries.

• Business concepts.

Novelty alone is insufficient. Producing something nobody has said before does not automatically constitute meaningful discovery.

A proposed discovery must withstand the appropriate evaluation, whether through evidence, experimentation, expert review, mathematical proof, engineering validation, commercial testing, or another suitable method.

Class 6

Social and Behavioral AGI

Capabilities: Previous classes plus social and behavioural understanding

This class adds sophisticated understanding of people.

It interprets:

• Emotions.

• Intentions.

• Relationships.

• Incentives.

• Communication.

• Group behaviour.

• Social dynamics.

It can apply this understanding to teaching, negotiation, persuasion, leadership, cooperation, conflict resolution, and collective decision-making.

Such capability also requires restraint. Human thoughts and motives are not directly observable. A capable system should distinguish what the evidence establishes from what it merely suggests.

Class 7

Spatial AGI

Capabilities: Previous classes plus spatial intelligence

Spatial AGI adds a comprehensive understanding of physical space.

This includes:

• Three-dimensional objects.

• Dimensions and orientation.

• Distance and movement.

• Trajectories.

• Environments.

• Spatial relationships.

• Physical consequences.

It can reason about how objects relate to one another, whether they fit together, how they move, where they may collide, and how changing one object affects another.

It can also apply this reasoning in unfamiliar environments.

Spatial understanding does not, by itself, establish the physical ability to act on that understanding. That capability appears in Class 9.

Class 8

Agentic AGI

Capabilities: All seven cognitive classes plus autonomous action

Agentic AGI extends understanding and communication into sustained independent action.

Given an objective, it can:

• Develop a plan and conduct research.

• Operate software and use tools.

• Communicate with people or systems.

• Make decisions.

• Monitor progress.

• Detect mistakes.

• Revise its approach.

• Continue working toward completion.

This introduces another dimension: operational duration.

An impressive beginning is insufficient. The system must maintain progress, respond appropriately when something goes wrong, and reliably carry complicated work through to completion.

Agentic capability should therefore be assessed according to both performance quality and the duration over which that performance can be sustained.

Embodied AGI

Class 9

Motor and Embodied AGI

Capabilities: Previous classes plus physical capability through robotics

Motor and Embodied AGI brings intelligence into physical action.

The system can:

• Navigate environments.

• Manipulate objects.

• Use physical tools.

• Coordinate movement.

• Perform skilled work.

• Learn new motor activities.

• Adapt physically to changing circumstances.

Here, the intelligence and robotic body must be assessed together.

Explaining how to perform a surgical procedure, repair job, sporting movement, manufacturing task, or household activity is insufficient.

The system must possess the perception, coordination, control, precision, and adaptability necessary to perform the activity itself.

Why the Classes Matter

This framework helps explain why debates about AGI can become confused.

One person says, “AGI has arrived.”

Another says, “We are nowhere near AGI.”

They may be evaluating different capabilities. One may be thinking primarily about Class 5. Another may require Class 8. A third may consider AGI incomplete until Class 9 has been achieved.

Stating the class makes the disagreement easier to understand.

The question becomes more precise:

Which class of AGI has been achieved, and at what level of performance?

Part II

Measuring Capability Within Each Class

The classes describe the range of things an AI can do. They do not, by themselves, establish how well it performs or whether it has reached the proposed AGI threshold.

Progress can occur in two directions.

An AI can advance across classes, acquiring a broader range of capabilities. It can also improve within a class, becoming more capable at activities it already performs.

I propose assessing each class through four dimensions:

• Percentile performance.

• Memory.

• Operational duration, where applicable.

• Superintelligence.

Each dimension can be expressed through a simple code.

Percentile Performance⁵

Percentile performance describes how well an AI performs relative to an appropriate group of human experts.

P70

Performance at or above the 70th percentile of the relevant human expert group.

P80

Performance at or above the 80th percentile of the relevant human expert group.

P90

Performance at or above the 90th percentile of the relevant human expert group.

The reported level is the highest of these thresholds consistently demonstrated across the capabilities required for the class.

In this framework, P70 is the lower threshold for AGI within a class, P80 is the intermediate level, and P90 is the upper threshold.

A system can therefore be assessed against a class before reaching that class’s AGI threshold.

P80 does not mean 80% accuracy. It means performance at or above approximately 80% of the relevant comparison group.

That group must match the activity. The appropriate experts for mathematical reasoning differ from those for medical diagnosis, negotiation, visual design, mechanical repair, scientific research, or robotic manipulation.

A percentile designation is meaningful only when the comparison group, tasks, and testing conditions are clearly defined.

Memory⁶

Memory should be assessed across all nine classes.

It describes how effectively an AI can:

• Retain information.

• Retrieve it.

• Connect it.

• Prioritize it.

• Update it.

• Apply it appropriately.

This includes preserving context, incorporating corrections, distinguishing current information from obsolete information, and recognizing which past information matters to the present task.

I propose three memory levels.

Short-Term Memory, STM

The AI retains and uses information within an immediate conversation, exchange, task, or closely connected sequence of tasks.

Mid-Term Memory, MTM

The AI preserves and applies relevant context across related tasks and throughout an ongoing project.

Long-Term Memory, LTM

The AI maintains, retrieves, connects, updates, and appropriately applies information across projects and extended periods.

Memory should be assessed through both retention and quality of use.

LTM has limited value if the AI remembers information inaccurately, cannot retrieve it when needed, or applies it in the wrong situation.

Operational Duration⁷

Operational duration becomes particularly relevant from Class 8, Agentic AGI, onward.

It describes how long an AI can sustain autonomous work at its stated performance level.

I propose three operational levels.

Short-Term Operation, STO

The AI independently pursues a bounded objective over a relatively short period while maintaining the required performance.

Mid-Term Operation, MTO

The AI sustains autonomous work across multiple coordinated tasks while preserving context, monitoring progress, responding to problems, and correcting errors.

Long-Term Operation, LTO

The AI autonomously pursues objectives over extended periods, adapts to changing circumstances, manages interruptions, preserves continuity, and appropriately resumes work.

These are conceptual bands. Any assessment should state the actual duration demonstrated, the demands of the work, and the amount of human intervention permitted.

Operational duration is distinct from memory.

An AI could possess LTM while remaining capable of only STO. Another system could sustain LTO while operating at a lower percentile performance level.

Performance, memory, and operational duration must therefore be assessed separately.

Beyond AGI: Super Intelligence

Super intelligence, SI, need not emerge across every capability at once.

An AI might become superintelligent in mathematics, coding, scientific discovery, or engineering while remaining much weaker in social understanding, autonomous operation, spatial reasoning, or physical activity.

Using P90 performance among relevant human experts as the reference AGI capability⁸, I propose three conceptual superintelligence markers.

SI1

Approximately 10 times the reference AGI capability within a specified, meaningfully measurable activity.

SI1 represents substantial capability beyond the proposed human expert reference.

SI2

Approximately 100 times the reference AGI capability, or roughly ten times SI1 on the same measure.

SI2 represents a much greater scale of measurable performance.

SI3

Approximately 1,000 times the reference AGI capability, or roughly ten times SI2 on the same measure.

SI3 represents capability enormously beyond the human expert reference.

These multipliers are conceptual markers. Intelligence has no single universal numerical unit that can simply be multiplied.

Any SI claim would therefore need to identify exactly what is being measured and why a tenfold, hundredfold, or thousandfold comparison is meaningful.

A measure of productivity, for example, would describe a different achievement from a measure of solution quality. Neither should automatically be treated as a universal measure of intelligence.

Narrow SI and Wide SI

Super intelligence in one class does not establish super intelligence across the entire set of classes.

An AI might demonstrate SI1 in class 1 without reaching SI1 across the other classes.

Exceptional video performance would likewise be insufficient to establish SI in embodied intelligence.

A general SI designation would require the stated level across the cumulative capabilities represented by all classes, using appropriate measures for each.

Scope must therefore accompany the claim.

“SI1 in text” is a narrower designation than “Class 7 SI1.” Both could describe substantial achievements, but they describe different achievements.

Applying the Framework

The framework allows an AI system’s demonstrated capabilities to be expressed through compact notation:

Class · Performance · Memory · Operational Duration

Operational duration is included when assessing the operational classes.

In these codes,

C denotes class,

P denotes percentile performance,

M denotes memory,

O denotes operational duration, and

SI denotes superintelligence.

Consider three examples.

C4 · P60 · MTM

The system demonstrates textual, verbal, visual, and video capabilities at P60 or lower, with Mid-Term Memory.

It has reached the P60 marker across Class 4’s cumulative capabilities. It has not yet demonstrated the proposed P70 threshold for Class 4 AGI.

C8 · P70 · LTM · MTO

The system demonstrates all seven cognitive classes and agentic AGI capability at P70 or higher, with Long-Term Memory and Mid-Term Operation.

It therefore meets the proposed AGI threshold through Class 8.

C7 · SI1 · LTM

The system demonstrates SI1 across the cumulative capabilities of Classes 1 through 7, using appropriate measures for each, and possesses Long-Term Memory.

This designation does not establish its standing in Classes 8 or 9. Those capabilities require separate assessment.

The same system could, for example, qualify at C7 · SI1 · LTM and C8 · P90 · LTM · MTO. Its first seven classes of cognitive capabilities would have advanced into SI1 while its agentic capability remained at the proposed AGI threshold.

The cumulative rule remains essential.

A C4 · P80 claim requires P80 or higher across textual, verbal, visual, and video capabilities.

A C8 · P90 · LTM · MTO claim requires P90 or higher across all seven cognitive classes and agentic capability, together with demonstrated Long-Term Memory and Mid-Term Operation.

A system that falls short of a cumulative class designation may still possess exceptional individual capabilities. Those achievements should be recognized through narrower, accurately scoped, exceptional and specified descriptions.

A Better Way to Ask Whether AGI Has Arrived

Instead of asking only, “Have we achieved AGI?”, I suggest asking five questions:

1. Which class has been demonstrated?

2. At what performance level: P70, P80, or the proposed AGI threshold of P90?

3. What memory level has been demonstrated: STM, MTM, or LTM?

4. For operational classes, what duration of autonomous operation has been demonstrated: STO, MTO, or LTO?

5. Has any capability or complete class advanced into SI1, SI2, or SI3?

These questions produce a more precise description of progress.

An AI could possess extraordinary intellectual ability while lacking sustained autonomy. It could understand physical tasks while lacking the robotic dexterity to perform them. It could become superintelligent in individual domains while remaining considerably weaker elsewhere.

Under this framework, achieving AGI within one class does not establish AGI across every class.

AGI can therefore be understood as a progression across categories, classes, performance, memory, operational duration, and superintelligence.

This vocabulary allows us to recognize substantial achievements while stating clearly what has been demonstrated and what remains to be achieved.

Terminology

¹ Artificial General Intelligence, AGI

Artificial intelligence capable of performing a broad range of activities at the level of capable human beings or relevant human experts.

Within this proposed framework, P70 is the threshold for an AGI designation within a class.

² Superintelligence, SI

Artificial intelligence whose demonstrated capability extends far beyond the relevant human expert reference.

The class number identifies breadth of capability. The separate performance code identifies proficiency.

⁴ Cumulative Rule

The principle that each higher class includes the capabilities required by all preceding classes and adds another capability.

A cumulative performance designation requires the stated threshold across the capabilities included in that class.

⁵ Percentile Performance, P

A comparison between an AI’s performance and that of an appropriate group of human experts.

P70, P80, and P90 identify the 70th, 80th, and 90th percentile thresholds respectively. They do not represent percentages of accuracy.

⁶ Memory, M

The ability to retain, retrieve, connect, update, prioritize, and appropriately apply information over time.

• STM: Short-Term Memory.

• MTM: Mid-Term Memory.

• LTM: Long-Term Memory.

On an appropriate, explicitly defined measure:

A Note on the Framework

The classes, percentile thresholds, memory levels, operational levels, and SI multipliers proposed here are conceptual conventions. They are not scientifically established measurements of intelligence.

Testing the framework would require clearly defined tasks, appropriate human comparison groups, reproducible evaluation methods, and explicit conditions concerning tools, assistance, and human intervention.

SI comparisons would also require measures for which tenfold, hundredfold, or thousandfold improvements have meaningful interpretations. Percentile rankings themselves cannot be multiplied to produce measurements of intelligence.

Suppose you have an idea for a new smart-home electronic product, but you are not an electrical engineer, firmware developer, industrial designer or software engineer.

At any stage, the venture may continue development, raise capital, license the technology or be sold.

If it later moves toward production, an in-house engineering team can be built, potentially with compensation including salary and equity.

What Kinds of Smart-Home Products?

The same development path could apply to:

• safety and security devices

• energy-management products

• environmental monitors

• aging-at-home technologies

• privacy-conscious automation

The underlying technologies might include radar, infrared, thermal sensing, ultrasound, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ultra-wideband, Matter, Thread or artificial intelligence.

The founder does not need to know the final technical solution at the beginning. Finding it can be part of the consultancy’s job.

Who Might Invest?

• original equipment manufacturers

These companies may already have manufacturing, distribution, software, marketing and customers.

The founder may bring them something they do not yet have: a developed technology and a new product opportunity.

Sell, License, Partner or Keep Building

The founder does not have to follow one predetermined path.

At any stage, the choices could include:

• Raise capital

• Find a strategic partner

• Keep building

A licensing deal could potentially combine an upfront payment with royalties.

Each development stage creates another decision point.

Protect What Is Being Built

The consultancy agreement should clearly establish ownership of the resulting:

• hardware designs

• firmware

• software

• algorithms

• prototypes

• test data

• documentation

• patentable inventions

If the technology may eventually be financed, licensed or sold, clear ownership matters.

A founder does not necessarily have to build the entire consumer-electronics company.

Sometimes the opportunity is to build the technology far enough that someone else wants to finance it, license it, partner on it, or buy it.

The technical path clearly appears possible. The market case appears encouraging enough to test.

The next step is a full feasibility study.

The Opportunity

The device is designed to make sense of an important aspect of everyday behaviour.

It would work seamlessly in the background and produce useful reports through the app.

The aim is simple: useful awareness with almost no effort and strong privacy.

The initial markets under consideration have a combined population of approximately 1.17 billion people:

Europe: European Union and United Kingdom

GCC: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman

What Should Be Available?

Depending on local risks and medical guidance, appropriate equipment might include automated external defibrillators (AEDs), tourniquets, pressure dressings and gauze, chest seals, naloxone, and other basic emergency supplies.

My earlier article, When the Police Arrive Before the Ambulance, briefly explains what each of these is, what it does, and the kinds of emergencies in which it may be useful.

Equipment Is Not Enough

Equipment alone, however, is not enough.

Governments could develop laws, regulations and licensing standards governing where such equipment should be required, who may use it, how people should be trained, how equipment should be maintained, and how these systems connect with hospitals and emergency services.

The requirements need not be identical everywhere.

An airport does not have the same risk profile as an apartment complex. A university does not have the same needs as a wedding hall. Naloxone may be important in one jurisdiction and far less relevant in another.

Local medical and emergency-response professionals should determine what is appropriate.

Where maintaining trained staff permanently on-site is impractical, regulations could require appropriately trained personnel to be hired for particular events, such as large public gatherings, weddings, conferences, or major religious gatherings.

The objective is not to turn security guards, gym employees or event workers into paramedics.

It is to improve the chances that when someone collapses, stops breathing, suffers catastrophic bleeding or experiences another time-critical emergency, the first few minutes are not simply lost.

Over time, something larger begins to emerge.

Selected police officers are trained and equipped.

Key private and nonprofit institutions have appropriate emergency equipment.

Large gatherings have trained personnel available.

Standards exist for training, maintenance and oversight.

A city gradually develops a layered emergency-preparedness system.

Beyond Saving Lives

The immediate benefit is a greater chance of saving lives and better managing injuries before professional medical care becomes available.

But there may be wider benefits too.

Visible emergency preparedness can strengthen public confidence, improve perceptions of institutional competence and contribute, at the margins, to making cities and countries more attractive places to visit, work, invest and live.

This is not a substitute for building reliable ambulance and emergency medical services.

It is one step toward them.

In my previous article, I proposed equipping selected police officers with tourniquets.

That raises a larger question: what other simple lifesaving interventions could police provide when they arrive before an ambulance?

Shootings, stabbings, motorcycle crashes, cardiac arrests, and other medical emergencies occur every day around the world.

But in many countries, especially across parts of Asia, Africa, and South America, the ambulance may not arrive quickly.

In some places, organized ambulance services are limited. In others, traffic, distance, resources, or sheer demand can make emergency medical response difficult.

Yet many of these same countries have a substantial police presence.

Police officers are distributed throughout cities and towns. Many patrol on motorcycles, allowing them to move through congested streets and potentially reach an emergency within minutes.

What if selected officers were trained and equipped not merely to enforce the law, but to keep someone alive until they could reach a hospital?

Four Tools That Could Save Lives

A carefully designed police first-response kit might include an automated external defibrillator (AED), chest seals, pressure dressings and bleeding-control equipment, tourniquets, and naloxone where opioid overdose is a significant local problem.

Much of this equipment is remarkably compact. Even an AED designed for mobile use can be relatively small. A carefully designed lifesaving kit could potentially fit into the storage box of a police motorcycle or easily into a patrol vehicle.

None of this means turning police officers into paramedics.

It means identifying a small number of interventions that properly trained officers could safely perform during the critical minutes before professional medical care becomes available.

AEDs

Some years ago, I saw a video of a prominent businessman in his sixties lying on the floor at a public gathering. He was still alive. People surrounded him, clearly wanting to help, but apparently unsure what to do.

It was later reported that he died following a heart attack.

I do not know whether an AED would have saved him. A heart attack and cardiac arrest are not the same thing.

But the scene stayed with me.

I once heard a prominent Western professor, then in his eighties, describe collapsing from cardiac arrest on a university campus when he was in his sixties.

Students responded. An AED was available. His heart was successfully defibrillated.

He survived and continued teaching for years.

That is the power of having the right equipment, in the right place, with people who know how to use it.

If someone suffers a shockable cardiac arrest, rapid CPR and defibrillation with an AED can sometimes mean the difference between life and death.

Chest Seals

A penetrating chest injury can create another rapidly developing emergency.

If air enters the space between the lung and chest wall, the lung can partially or completely collapse. In some cases, pressure can continue building inside the chest and become life-threatening.

An appropriate chest seal, used by someone properly trained and operating under a medically approved protocol, may help manage certain open chest wounds while the injured person is transported for definitive medical treatment.

Stopping Severe Bleeding

A person with catastrophic bleeding can deteriorate extraordinarily quickly.

This is where tourniquets, wound packing, pressure dressings, and other bleeding-control equipment can matter.

A trained responder who recognizes life-threatening bleeding and intervenes correctly may buy the victim something enormously valuable:

time.

Time to reach a surgeon.

Time to receive blood.

Time to survive.

Naloxone

Where opioid overdoses are common, naloxone could be another valuable tool.

Opioids such as fentanyl can suppress breathing until a person becomes unconscious and dies. Naloxone can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose, potentially restoring breathing long enough for the person to receive further medical care.

Naloxone is also remarkably compact. Where the local risk justifies carrying it, it could occupy very little space in a first-response kit.

Start Small, Then Measure

Countries with limited ambulance coverage could begin experimentally.

Equip selected police motorcycles and patrol vehicles with compact lifesaving kits. Train selected officers. Establish protocols with emergency physicians.

Then measure what happens.

How quickly did officers arrive? How often was the equipment used? Were there complications? Most importantly, did the interventions improve survival?

If the evidence supports the program, improve it and expand it.

Funding could begin with central or national governments, supplemented by state, provincial, territorial, or local governments according to each country’s governmental structure.

Eventually, there could be multiple trained first-response teams on every shift at every major police station across the nation.

Where the Idea Came From

There is already real-world experience behind this approach.

A retired U.S. based EMS leader and longtime paramedic read my earlier article about equipping police officers with tourniquets. In a comment on my LinkedIn post, she pointed out that the idea could go much further.

Her police department carries AEDs, naloxone, tourniquets, and chest seals, and she noted that these tools have been used over the years to save lives.

Her comment prompted me to explore the idea further.

I thought the broader concept was excellent. If these interventions are already saving lives in some communities, could similar models be adapted for countries where ambulance services are much more limited?

Her comment sparked this follow-up article.

A Cross-Pollination of Ideas

I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India. I have lived in Toronto, Canada, for decades and spent about half a decade in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. I first learned about the value of tourniquets by occasionally listening to podcasts featuring members of a nation’s special forces.

One idea stayed with me.

Police Often Arrive Before Ambulances

Every day, police officers are dispatched to:

• road traffic collisions;

• stabbings;

• industrial accidents;

• railway incidents;

• violent assaults;

• disasters;

• and other emergencies.

Very often, they arrive before paramedics.

When someone has catastrophic bleeding from an arm or leg, every minute matters.

A properly applied commercial tourniquet can stop that bleeding long enough for the victim to reach hospital.

That is why many military organizations, emergency medical services, and an increasing number of civilian police agencies train officers to use them.

A Growing Number of Police Services Are Already Moving Forward

Police have invested significantly in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first-aid training.

Teaching catastrophic bleeding control would be a natural extension of that work.

CPR saves lives when the heart stops.

Tourniquets save lives when blood leaves the body.

Both are part of preserving life.

Start With Selected Officers

Rather than immediately issuing tourniquets to every police officer, a phased approach may be more practical.

Each police station could identify a number of officers to receive advanced bleeding-control training.

Those officers would carry commercial tourniquets while on duty and could respond whenever serious injuries are reported.

As experience grows, the programme could gradually expand to include more frontline personnel.

This approach keeps costs manageable, simplifies training, and allows procedures to be refined before wider implementation.

Benefits Beyond Saving Lives

The most obvious benefit is saving victims who would otherwise bleed to death before reaching hospital.

But there are others.

Police could save fellow officers injured in the line of duty.

They could help firefighters, municipal workers, accident victims, suspects, protesters, and ordinary members of the public.

Just as importantly, programmes like this change how the public sees policing.

People remember the officer who saved a life.

They remember compassion, professionalism, and competence.

Every successful rescue strengthens public confidence in policing.

Trust is built one interaction at a time.

Legitimate Concerns

Some readers will immediately think about police corruption, excessive force, and custodial violence.

Those concerns are legitimate and should never be dismissed.

Any equipment issued to police has the potential to be misused.

However, the answer is not to withhold lifesaving equipment.

The answer is to introduce it responsibly.

Every use of a tourniquet should be documented.

Medical staff should confirm whether its application was appropriate.

Whenever it is used on someone in police custody or during a police use-of-force incident, additional review should automatically occur.

Transparency protects both the public and honest police officers.

Training Matters More Than Equipment

Buying tourniquets alone achieves very little.

Officers must learn:

• when a tourniquet is appropriate;

• when direct pressure is sufficient;

• how to apply it correctly;

• how to recognise shock;

• and how to transfer care safely to paramedics.

These are practical skills that require hands-on training and regular refresher exercises.

A Model Worth Considering Worldwide

The idea is universal.

Every police service should ask a simple question:

If our officers are often first on scene, should they have the training and equipment to save someone from bleeding to death?

Many agencies have already answered yes.

Others may wish to consider doing the same.

Conclusion

Modern policing is about far more than enforcing the law.

It is also about protecting life.

Equipping selected police officers with commercial tourniquets, supported by practical training, clear procedures, medical oversight, and strong accountability, would be a relatively inexpensive reform with the potential to save many lives.

Sometimes, the most meaningful improvements are not the most expensive or the most technologically advanced.

Sometimes they are simply the right tool, in the right hands, at the right time.

In a narcissist-controlled family, the victim’s world steadily shrinks.

The family becomes the only safe place.

The narcissist becomes the only reliable voice.

Outside help becomes a threat.

Questions become rebellion.

Escape becomes betrayal.

Many victims cannot see the prison because it has been built around their minds.

Many do not know help exists.

Many remain trauma-bonded into adulthood, emotionally tied to the very people who subjugated them.

The Capacities That Can Be Abused

The pattern is clear.

The ability to believe beyond proof.

The hunger for love and belonging.

The need for certainty.

The willingness to trust authority.

The fear of rejection.

The hope of divine approval.

Every one of these can be abused.

A Field Demanding Attention

This intersection urgently needs study and worldwide public discussion:

Religious imagination.

Faith.

Narcissistic traits and narcissistic personality disorder.

Gaslighting.

Trauma bonding.

Family systems.

Mental isolation.

Abusive subjugation in the name of God.

Perhaps many doctoral dissertations have already been written.

If so, their findings need to reach the individuals, families, seminaries, places of worship, and religious communities that need them.

More research must be conducted.

Existing books must be promoted.

Articles must be produced and distributed.

Religious seminaries and universities must teach students to recognize these dynamics.

Psychologists, psychiatrists, religious scholars, sociologists, educators, and researchers must work together.

Sermons must make the problem common knowledge.

The taboos must be broken.

The conversations must become normal.

Seeking professional help must be encouraged.

Protecting Faith

Too many lives are being quietly damaged by abusive people who use sacred language to justify control.

Too many children are being trained to confuse fear with obedience.

Too many adults remain trapped inside realities constructed by narcissistic figures they grew up trusting.

This is not a call to weaken faith.

It is a call to protect faith from those who abuse it.

The Light Must Reach Them

There is hope.

There is language for what is happening.

There are professionals who understand trauma, coercive control, gaslighting, and family systems.

There must be safe places for victims to go for help.

There must be help for people who have been taught that seeking help is a betrayal of the very abuser who presents themselves as the protector of their path to God and religious systems.

The light must reach these victims.

A great society is not judged only by the lifestyles of its rich and famous people.

A great society is judged by how well its poorest children, women, and elderly can live healthy, dignified, and quality lives.

Too often, in a crowded Hyderabad locality, a child grows up between walls, traffic, noise, heat, and dust.

For most children in such areas, there is no ground.

No swimming pool.

No trees.

No shaded walking space.

No safe place to exercise.

No proper place to play cricket or football.

No clean public space where a child can run, fall, laugh, learn discipline, make friends, and grow strong.

This is how millions of children grow up in many Indian cities. Their bodies are young, their energy is alive, their minds are ready, but the city gives them no room.

A poor child should not need wealth to breathe.

A poor child should not need a private school campus to play.

A poor child should not need a club membership to swim.

A poor child should not need to live in a gated community to see trees, walk safely, or enjoy beauty.

In the same locality, a woman steps out of her home and finds no peaceful place to walk.

No shaded bench.

No safe path.

No reliable space where she can exercise with comfort and dignity.

An elderly man wants to walk for his health, but the street is broken and crowded.

A grandmother wants to sit under a tree, but there is no tree.

A teenage boy turns the road into his playing field.

A teenage girl wants recreation, confidence, health, and fresh air, but the city has not planned enough space for her.

This is not only an urban planning problem.

It is a moral problem.

It is a public health problem.

It is a question of what kind of city Hyderabad wants to become.

What the Wealthy Already Have

The wealthy already understand the value of space.

Their children study in schools with campuses, grounds, courts, swimming pools, trees, and clean walkways.

Their families use private clubs, sports academies, gated communities, gyms, gardens, and pools.

They can pay for cricket coaching, football coaching, swimming classes, fitness programs, weekend recreation, and safe family outings.

They can buy what the city has not provided.

The poor cannot.

That is why public planning matters.

A great society is not judged only by the lifestyles of its rich and famous people.

A great society is judged by how well its poorest children, women, and elderly can live healthy, dignified, and quality lives.

This is not a demand for luxury.

It is a demand for quality.

It is a demand for public health.

It is a demand that even the poorest should have the basic conditions needed for human growth.

The Real Question

Hyderabad is an old and powerful city.

It has history, culture, talent, ambition, technology, money, and influence.

But the real test of a city is not only its skyline.

It is not only its flyovers, towers, malls, airports, and software parks.

The real test is the life of the ordinary child.

Can that child play?

Can that child breathe?

Can that child learn sport?

Can that child swim?

Can that child see trees?

Can that child grow up with health, confidence, and dignity?

The same question applies to women, seniors, families, and youth.

A city that forgets them may grow rich, but it does not become great.

Hyderabad should become a city where public space is treated as a basic part of public life.

A child in a poor locality should not grow up thinking that grounds, pools, trees, and beauty belong only to the rich.

They belong to the city.

And the city belongs to all.

The Story

Picture a serene afternoon at the Islamic Center of San Diego. The halls echo with bursts of laughter and the gentle chatter of children—around 140 in all, most between six and ten years old—learning, playing, and filling the space with innocent joy.

Suddenly, two armed attackers burst onto the scene, intent on inflicting tragedy upon those innocent American schoolchildren within the Islamic Center.

In that frozen instant of dread, three ordinary men stepped forward with extraordinary courage and laid down their lives protecting the children.

A Day That Changed Everything

On May 18, 2026, two teenage Islamophobic gunmen opened fire outside the Islamic Center. Inside, children huddled in classrooms as chaos erupted.

Amin Abdullah, Nadir Awad, and Mansour Kaziha met the Islamophobic gunmen head-on. They drew the danger away from the young lives and teachers, granting them those few, priceless seconds to lock down and protect themselves.

The children and teachers survived. The community, the nation and the world were spared a far deeper wound. Even as these three men never came home.

The Guardian at the Gate

Amin Abdullah, the center’s security officer and father of eight, spotted the attackers first.

He raised the alarm, giving teachers time to secure the children, then stepped outside—armed and resolute—to face the two evil Islamophobic gunmen alone.

His swift decision purchased life itself: doors slammed shut, children hid, and innocence endured. He stood out in the open as the final line between the helpless and Islamophobic hatred.

Everyday Heroes

Nadir Awad lived across the street. Hearing the shots, he ran from his home toward the gunfire with nothing but his courage.

Mansour Kaziha, longtime masjid shopkeeper and community elder, joined him without hesitation.

Neither carried a gun.

In the moment of crisis, their character shone: they placed the safety of others above their own. That choice is the very definition of bravery.

Why Their Names Must Endure

Communities are forged by the stories they choose to remember.

The Islamic Center must preserve these legacies so that high morals become part of its living heritage—visible, lasting, and passed from one generation to the next.

Let it become the Amin Islamic Center.
Let its main entrance be named the Nadir Entrance.
Let its school corridor bear the name Mansour Hall.

Let the morals they taught us stay alive for centuries, Allah willing.

Inside, plaques should recount their deeds, reminding every visitor of service, faith, and selfless sacrifice.

One day a visitor will pause and ask, “Who were these men?” The answer will be timeless in its simplicity: “They ran toward mortal danger so innocent souls could live.”

Memory alone falls short. The community has already raised substantial funds; that momentum must continue. Coordinated crowdfunded support—financial security and long-term care—will ease the families’ burden and honor the men’s sacrifice without overburdening any single donor.

A Message That Endures

Confronted by Islamophobic hatred, Amin, Nadir and Mansour uncovered something stronger: unity, resilience, and profound humanity. They refused to let evil triumph.

Their stand reveals that a masjid is far more than walls and carpets—it is a living fellowship of learning, service, and shared life.

On May 18, ordinary believers became guardians of the innocent.

Dua Prayers

May Allah forgive Amin, Nadir, and Mansour. May Allah accept their ultimate sacrifice and martyrdom. May He elevate their ranks among the righteous, provide for their families, and inspire every child who walks these halls to choose courage when it matters most.

And peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Mohammed, on his family, on his companions, and on all believers until the Last Day.

The Part Trump Leaves Out

Donald Trump often says the United States subsidizes the world. He says America protects others, pays more, and carries everyone else.

What he leaves out is just as important.

For nearly 70 years, the world has subsidized the United States by using the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency.

That fact comes first. Everything else follows.

How the Dollar Became Global Money

After World War II, the U.S. was the strongest economy left standing. Europe and Asia were damaged. The U.S. had factories, gold, and stability.

The dollar was chosen as the world’s main currency.

That meant global trade, oil, debt, and central bank savings all ran on dollars. Countries needed dollars to survive in the global system.

This gave the U.S. a unique advantage.

The Purchasing Power Advantage

Because the world needed dollars, the U.S. could print its own money and spend it globally. Other countries had to earn or borrow dollars. America did not.

Economists estimate this raised U.S. real purchasing power by roughly 20 to 30 percent. In simple terms, America could buy about one quarter more than it otherwise could with the same economy.

No other country had this power.

From Money to Science to Military

Over decades, this allowed the U.S. to borrow cheaply, run trade deficits without collapse, and import real goods in exchange for its own currency.

That extra money funded universities, science, technology, and eventually the world’s strongest military.

Financial power came first.

Scientific power followed.

Military dominance came last.

Only after all this did the U.S. take on the role of global protector.

Why Trump’s Framing Is Incomplete

So when Trump says America pays more or protects others, he is talking about the final stage, not the starting point.

The reserve currency came first.

The advantage came second.

Global power came third.

The Missing Context

Leaving this out turns a shared system into a one-sided story.

This is not about blaming or praising the U.S.A.

It is about understanding how its power was built.
